You can report an incident to Stop AAPI Hate, a national organization that formed in the wake of escalating xenophobia and bigotry resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Stop AAPI Hate coalition was founded by the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University.
You can report an incident to Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAAJ). AAAJ is a national affiliation of five leading organizations advocating for the civil and human rights of Asian Americans and other underserved communities. The affliation's members are: Advancing Justice - AAJC (Washington, D.C.), Advancing Justice - Los Angeles, Advancing Justice - Atlanta, Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus (San Francisco), and Advancing Justice - Chicago.
The Montclair Civil Rights Commission (CRC) serves as an advisory board to the Township Council. The CRC recommends programs designed to eliminate discrimination, addresses problems involving tensions in the community, and reviews the Township Affirmative Action Policy. In response to the rise in Anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment, Hollaback! partnered with Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC to adapt our free bystander intervention training as well as offering a de-escalation training adapted to support the AAPI community.
The Montclair Community Learning Circles on Race are hosted by Montclair Foundation for Educational Excellence. Guided by a trained community member, and using the documentary film America to Me, podcasts, and other media as common texts, Learning Circle members explore their individual understanding of racism and identify opportunities for personal and community accountability.
