We are excited to announce that AAPI Montclair will host its first ever Color Run celebrating Holi and Songkran at Brookdale Park in Montclair on April 3rd 2022! 

As a sponsor (sponsorship opportunities below), you will enable us to make the Color Run even brighter! We know you share our passion for making Montclair a place without hate, where we celebrate all cultures, so all of our children can grow up feeling cherished by their community.  

In appreciation of your generous gift, we would be delighted to highlight your participation to our community members, business leaders, and guests through signage, public relations, and acknowledgment of your support during our stage presentation.  

For the Color Run, AAPI Montclair will also give back to our local public school PTAs, whose support of our programming and events has been instrumental in building our community, and who have faced such challenging headwinds over the past two years. 10% of race fees will be donated to runners' PTA (see the above section, "School Donation" for your school code) at one of the local Montclair Schools. We are also committed to making this event accessible to everyone in our community; we will provide confidential fee waivers as well.

AAPI Montclair is a grassroots nonprofit with over 500 Asian American and Pacific Islander members in the Montclair, NJ area. Our mission is to create a more inclusive Montclair by uplifting the varied experiences of its AAPI communities and promoting awareness and education around AAPI culture and history.  

We came together to share our experiences and help unify our voices to create action and representation for our community. Since forming in late March 2021, we have successfully advocated for our public schools to do more to recognize and respond to anti-Asian racism and microaggressions; launched a Stop Asian Hate sticker campaign to encourage businesses to identify themselves as safe spaces for victims of bias incidents; advocated for more transparency and leadership on bias incident reporting, diversity hiring and training, and other such matters; organized free and low-cost self-defense workshops for members of all ages; and joined other AAPI organizers in advocating for the passage of a bill that would fight anti-Asian racism at its roots by requiring Asian American history and contributions be taught in all NJ public schools.  

Our advocacy is supported by events that build solidarity, raise the visibility of AAPI issues, and help educate our wider community about AAPI culture and history. Past events have included the Lantern Festival for Justice and Remembrance, which drew over 1,000 people to memorialize victims of racial violence; family-oriented events such as a Harvest Moon Festival and programming for AAPI youth.  

Recently, Montclair's first ever Lunar New Year and Diwali celebrations, partnerships with the Montclair Art Museum, gathered thousands of attendees to celebrate the joy, strength, and diversity of our East, Southeast, and South Asian communities.
