Feed the pig: GOSA TRADITION

We invite you to participate in blessing our new initiative, Teach Asian American Stories by feeding the pig!

Gosa is an ancient traditional Korean ceremony of wishing luck and good fortune for a new venture. An altar is set up for the gods and ancestral spirits with various foods but the main offering is a pig's head with money stuffed in its ears and mouth. In traditional folklore, the pig represents wealth and the act of placing money in the pig's mouth is to ward off misfortune and bring good luck.

In current times, no matter what your religion or beliefs may be, this tradition has become a fun way to start new projects and businesses. Bring bills if you would like to participate!

We are honored by Senator Vin Gopal's New Jersey Senate Resolution recognizing Michelle Li, Teach Asian American Stories, and our Harvest Moon Soirée.

THANK YOU TO OUR SPECIAL GUESTS

Guest of Honor: Michelle Li

Michelin Star Chefs: Meichih & Michael Kim

Michelin Star Chefs: Meichih & Michael Kim

Michelle Li, founder of the Very Asian Foundation. Michelle Li was criticized for telling her TV audience that she eats dumplings to celebrate the New Year. Callers said they found it offensive and “Very Asian.” Soon after Michelle shared a video, #veryasian went viral. Michelle started the Very Asian Foundation, whose May Book Project supports the inclusion of books by Asian American authors in libraries and schools. Guests will mingle with Michelle in an intimate setting during our pre-event Luminary cocktail hour (6:30 - 7:30 PM) and hear from her during our main event (7:30 - 11:00 PM).
